About the Event
We will be talking all things time-travel romance in this 1 hour informal online reading group.
Some examples of time-travel romances:
- Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon (books and TV series)
- One Last Stop by Casey McQuistion (book)
- Time Traveller’s Wife by Lauren Weisberger (book and film)
- My Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Devereux (book)
- About Time (film)
- Lost in Austen (TV series)
- Kate & Leopold (film)
- Transcendence by Shay Savage (book)
We'll be discussing topics like:
- What’s the appeal of the time-travel romance?
- Is the ‘time travel’ element a trope or a distinct sub-genre of romance?
- Why do we think these texts have declined in popularity?
- How are time travel romances constricted by race, gender and sexuality?
- How does the time-travel element overlap or inform the romantic elements of the book/film?
And more! No need to read anything in advance, if you've read or watched one of time-travel romances above (or even if you haven't) feel free to come along and add something to the conversation!
People are welcome from any university and/or country. Register for the event to receive the zoom link.
