About the Event
We're so excited for the third novel in the Marry Me, Juliet series by romance author and scholar, Jodi McAlister, Not Here to Make Friends, we're jumping on it early! Described as "a full-on villain romance novel, filled with lying, scheming and blazingly tumultuous sex" by The New York Times, we couldn't help but plan our next meeting around it. Jodi McAlister's Marry Me, Juliet series, which was inspired by The Bachelor/ette, is the creative accompaniment to her academic work which "critically interrogate[s] the way franchise constructs romance narratives." What better book to include in our discussion list?
We're doing things a little differently this time. We've moved our meeting to 1pm (British Summer Time) to accommodate 3 different time zones: British, US, and Australian. There's a certain someone who's planning to join us (barring unforeseen circumstances, of course) and we needed to make sure the meeting was not in the middle of the night for her.
Why, yes, it is the author, Jodi McAlister!!! (Fireworks, fans screaming in the background, a soprano bursts into song, an unbothered cat crosses the road.) We're very excited, which I'm sure you can tell by the length of this email, the use of "excited" twice, and the amount of exclamation marks.
Also, if you're in Australia, you're in luck because the book is available from a variety of vendors (check Jodi's website for where to buy). If you're in the UK, the book is available on Google Play books or you can get it shipped from the US on Amazon (hopefully all the links work).
As always, feel free to join us even if you haven't had time to read the novel. We'd love to have you, regardless.
